Pyrojacket® knitted fiber coating can withstand repeated impacts of molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 1650 °C. The heavy coating of an iron oxide red silicone rubber compound repels molten metal drips immediately, so there is very little heat transfer. Resists intense radiant heat and flames. When exposed to flames, the silicone rubber changes to a protective refractory layer of SiO2.
