Edvin Lindqvist joined HydraSpecma in 2016, with a job in production. Today, nearly a decade later, he sits in a very different position — working full-time as an ESG Specialist.
A special visit to the production
Edvin began his career in production assembling hydraulic components. But alongside his job, he pursued a degree in Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg, with a focus on sustainability and environmental issues, moving back and forth between studying and working during holidays.
After completing his education, he returned to the assembly line while searching for the right opportunity to apply his new knowledge.
That opportunity came unexpectedly.
Morten Kjær, the Group CEO of HydraSpecma, visited the production site. During the visit, he stopped and talked with Edvin.
“When Morten Kjær visited our site in Bårhult, we started talking about my studies,” Edvin explains. “He mentioned there might be an opening related to ESG. That conversation ended up changing everything.”
Few weeks later, Edvin was contacted by Director of Strategy & ESG, Daniel S. Andreasen, who had a temporary role for him in the ESG team.
Stepping into a new role
In April 2025, Edvin was offered the chance to work two days a week with ESG while continuing in production for the rest of the time. It was a transition that required both flexibility and clear communication as Edvin now had two managers to coordinate with.
“Those two days were dedicated fully to ESG,” he says. “It worked really well. My managers and colleagues were incredibly supportive and flexible.”
By April 2026, the role had evolved into a full-time position in the ESG team.
Today, Edvin primarily works with the environmental aspect, primarily focusing on emissions and climate data, an area that is both complex and constantly evolving.

Working across borders
Although Edvin is based in Sweden, the ESG team is primarily located in Denmark and works across all 11 HydraSpecma locations worldwide. This means his role reaches far beyond one site or one country, collaborating with colleagues across borders to support the group's sustainability agenda

“It's exciting to work with colleagues from different countries and cultures,” he says. “We may not sit in the same office, but we work towards the same goals.”
One of the biggest surprises in his new role has been gaining insight into the full scope of the entire group. “I didn't realise how complex the business is,” he says. “Working with ESG has given me a much broader understanding — from renewable energy to defence and marine. It's much bigger than I thought. I did not see this, when I worked in the production.” |

A culture that enables growth
Looking back on his 10 years with HydraSpecma, one thing stands out most to Edvin: the people.
“I really like my job, but my colleagues are what really makes the difference. There's a friendly and supportive culture.”
That support has been key throughout his journey from production to ESG.
Looking ahead, Edvin hopes to continue growing within the company.
“In five years, I see myself still being part of the ESG team. Hopefully ESG is even more integrated into the business.”
And his advice to others considering a career at HydraSpecma.
“Go for it. There are real opportunities to grow and develop here, if you're willing to take them.”
