At HydraSpecma, we believe long-term success is built on responsibility, innovation, and strong partnerships. That is why we are taking an important next step in our sustainability journey: committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This commitment means that our climate targets will be aligned with the best available climate science and with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
“For us, SBTi is about turning sustainability from aspiration into accountability. It allows us to measure, manage and continuously improve our climate impact in a way that is credible and transparent,” says Daniel Andreasen, Director of Group Strategy & ESG at HydraSpecma.
“It also sends a clear message that sustainability is becoming part of how we define operational and strategic excellence.”
What is SBTi – and why does it matter? The Science Based Targets initiative is the leading global framework for corporate climate targets. It is used by thousands of companies worldwide and ensures that emission reduction goals are: » Scientifically grounded In short, SBTi moves climate ambition from promises to credible action. |
What this means for HydraSpecma
HydraSpecma is a group of specialised engineering companies operating across industries and geographies. Our footprint spans manufacturing, sourcing, logistics, and customer solutions – which means our climate impact is spread across a complex value chain.
By committing to SBTi, we are making a clear promise to:
- Reduce emissions in our own operations.
- Address the largest part of our footprint: emissions from purchased goods, materials, and suppliers.
- Integrate climate performance into how we run and grow our businesses.
“We want our sustainability agenda to be as disciplined and performance-driven as the rest of our business. SBTi gives us that framework,” Daniel Andreasen adds.
Climate action as a business discipline
We see sustainability not as a reporting exercise, but as a management discipline.
SBTi brings the same rigor to climate action that we expect in engineering, finance, and governance.
It creates:
- Clear targets.
- Defined timelines.
- Accountability across the organisation.
For HydraSpecma, this fits naturally with our culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Working together across the value chain
A large share of our emissions sits in our supply chain. That means we cannot achieve our targets alone.
Our SBTi commitment will go hand in hand with:
- Closer collaboration with suppliers.
- Increased transparency on emissions.
- Support for partners who are also transitioning to low-carbon solutions.
We see this as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and build more resilient, future-proof value chains.
What happens next?
We formally committed to SBTi in January 2026. After that, we will develop and submit our detailed climate targets for validation and begin rolling out our implementation roadmap across the group.
We will share more as our targets are finalised.
A long-term commitment
HydraSpecma has always been built for the long term. Committing to SBTi is not about following a trend – it is about ensuring that our growth is compatible with the world our customers, employees, and children will live in.
This is an important step, and it is only the beginning.
